Really weird skin problem?

i'm 17 years old and i have never had acne, but with in the past week or two a cluster of what i think are pimples have formed on my right temple, right next to my eye. they aren't like normal pimples that you can pop, they are more like open sores.. i have had them for over a week and it is really starting to scare me (i have been using pretty powerful acne cream on them and they still won't go away). should i see a dermatologist, or is this a common type of acne?
